Prep is coming to a close for a very Merry Commander Christmas

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The preparation for the big day of events is coming to a close. Today the last bit of decorations are going on boats, right before the Very Merry Commander Christmas Flotilla.

Liz Hodge with Johnny's Pizza said their boat will be all deck-out, before tomorrow.

"We are decorating it with 300 feet of multi- colored rope light. We are going to have lit balloons. They are going to be floating in the river along our boat," Hodge said.

Little ducks will also float down the river in the Duck Derby Billy Haddad with Community Trust Bank said there is still time to buy them

"They are still available online and at the river market they will be on sale from noon until 1 p.m.," Haddad said.

Of course, everyone is hoping the weather will cooperate, especially through the laser show and concert to follow the flotilla.

"I think it is going to be cold, but not as cold as it was last weekend. As long as it is not windy, I think everything is going to be beautiful," Hodge said.

Hodge said she plans on keeping a small heater and pocket warmers with her at all times, to stay warm.

And rain, sleet, snow, or shine, these events will go on.

If you're heading to the Commander Christmas, the best spots to watch are either at the river market, or on the opposite side of the river in West Monroe.
