Police officers in the Twin Cities are gearing up for Kiwanis Christmas Parade

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)- The West Monroe and Monroe Police Departments are offering safety tips to those who plan to attend the Kiwanis Christmas parade and "Red Neck" Parade.

Police suggest parade goers be mindful to not get to close to the floats and advise parents to keep a close eye on children.

The West Monroe Police Department will have officers patrolling on bikes and on foot ensuring safety on the ground. 

The Monroe Police Department is asking everyone to be mindful of areas such as Grand Street, where traffic will be very heavy.

Both agencies have confirmed that open containers will not be allowed at the parades.
