Bastrop Police responding to Richland State Bank robbery

BASTROP, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Bastrop Police are on the scene of a bank robbery at the Richland State Bank.

The bank branch located in the Magnolia Shopping Center was robbed this morning at around 9:30.

Sheriff Mike Tubbs says that his detectives and the Bastrop Police are still on the scene investigating.

Tubbs said that the suspect handed the teller a note threatening he had a gun.

Police describe the suspect as an African-American male with a small build, 5 feet, 8-9 inches tall, and wearing a gray plaid shirt or jacket, dark pants and a toboggan hat.

The suspect left the bank on foot. He also left the bank with an undetermined amount of money.
