UNION PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Union Parish man is charged with domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.

27-year-old Michael, of Downsville, was booked Sunday morning after reportedly hitting his wife with a broom stick and body-slamming her.

Sheriff Dusty Gates says deputies responding to the call saw a man walking down Louisiana Highway 151 who had a bloodied right hand. Coats told deputies that his wife hit him with a mirror that broke during the fight.

Deputies placed Coats in a car and drove to the home where the wife had already been loaded into an ambulance to take her to St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. Gates said the victim had bruises and possibly some broken ribs.

The father of the victim, who lived nearby, said he heard his daughter screaming and saw her running toward his house with her 3-year-old son in her arms. The child told deputies "daddy hit momma."
