Candidates make final push for votes on eve of election

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The two candidates have spent the week campaigning, debating, and hoping to win over votes for Saturday's election.

Friday night, Neil Riser and Vance McAllister are still hot on the campaign trail. Riser and his team are hoping to find people at home by making phone calls to registered voters.

"I'm trying to get out and just ask people one on one and try to make calls and personally ask them for their votes," says Riser.

Riser says calling is the perfect reminder that more is happening tomorrow, than just hunting season.

"Me and Allison (his daughter) like to duck hunt, so deer season will open tomorrow and a lot of people will be with their family and sometimes it's easy to forget to vote," says Riser.

Vance McAllister is campaigning in a slightly different way.

"Look I've been making my phone calls too," says McAllister, "actually the phone is ringing right here in my pocket. So I'll keep pushing, like I said all along if I get beat, it's not going to be because I got out-worked."

McAllister is meeting voter at the Ouachita Parish football game cheering on the Lions.

"We (Ouachita) need to do what I've done and come from behind and let's all pull this thing off," says McAllister.

Both candidates say they are ready for tomorrow's race.
