Winnsboro woman who set herself on fire pleads

WINNSBORO, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Franklin Parish woman accused of setting herself on fire and blaming the "KKK" has pleaded guilty to terrorizing and false swearing.

District Attorney Mack Lancaster tells KNOE 8 News Sharmeka Moffitt has been sentenced to five years on each of the counts, to be served concurrently. However, the prison time has been suspended and Moffitt has been placed on four years of supervised probation. She must also pay a $1000. and $500 in fees and court costs.

It all happened back in October 2012 at Civitan Park in Winnsboro. Police say Moffitt blamed three men in white hoodies. She suffered burns on more than half of her body.
