Jena, La. (KNOE 8 News)- The days are numbered and time is short for Neil Riser to make one last effort to gain support from voters in the fifth congressional district. Riser was in Jena participating in veteran day events, while also speaking to citizens and hearing their concerns. His message to supporters couldn't have been any clearer.

"I want government out of our lives. The fifth congressional district is comprised of rural everyday people just like myself in a small town just need to be left alone and given the opportunity to make a living and be with our family and live our way of life," Riser said.

Riser believes that a change is necessary in Washington to turn things around for the future.

" We can easily be the generation that leaves this nation worse than when we found it. The 17 trillion dollar debt, is unacceptable. I'm not willing to put that on my family I'm going to fight."

For the next four days riser will be all over the district shaking hands of the people he hopes to serve in Washington D.C.
