WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Posing for pictures with Duck Dynasty's Mountain Man and speaking to a crowd of veterans Monday, 5th Congressional District candidate Vance McAllister only has 5 more days to earn as many votes as possible.

"If it worked once it will work again, I am going to get in front of as many people as I can this week let them know me let them see me we have a couple debates coming up people get to see us in that comparison side by side" says McAllister.

The local businessman came in with 18-percent on of the votes last month.

McAllister has been endorsed by Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo, State Representative Clyde Holloway, and by Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty.

He feels his endorsements say what kind of person he his.

"I believe that speaks volumes, verse someone that doesn't even live in the district endorsing my opponent when you got guys that stood their with you and on both sides of the isle feeling that I am the guy that would represent our views the best" says McAllister.

"McAlister addressed what he called rumors and says he refuses to run a negative campaign" says KNOE Reporter Hilary Hunt.

"He knows its not true, I know its not true" says McAllister.

McAllister says despite television ads his stance on The Affordable Care Act has not changed.

" I've said from day one I am against it I would repeal it if their was an option to repeal it but I am a realist and I know that we have tried forty times to repeal it and we have not repealed it yet" says McAllister.

But for now McAllister says he isn't focusing on the negatives.

Instead he is spending this week letting everyone know what kind of person Vance McAllister really is and that he's an open book.
