TALLULAH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Madison Parish School Board voted to eliminate 57 of its employees across the parish.

Superintendent Lisa Wilmore says the cuts are a result of the decrease in enrollment that led to a decrease in MFP funds from the state.

The board had two options: to pull the money from their reserve funds, or eliminate staff members. The board voted 5-3 to eliminate 57 employees.

Here's a look a run down of those positions: 6 employees from the central office, 30 para-professionals, 5 in transportation, 2 custodians, instructional staff including 7 teachers and 2 substitutes, and 5 school office administrators.

Termination letters will be handed out immediately, and the employees last days will be November 22, 2013.
