MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Deputy has passed away.

In October of 1974 Alan Nall began his career with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Bailey Grant after serving 24 years in the United Stated Air Force. During his career, Nall rose to the rank of Lieutenant as purchasing agent and evidence custodian.

Nall retired from full-time employment in October of 1994 after serving the citizens of Ouachita Parish for 20 years. Nall then continued his service as a reserve deputy for 8 years and then began serving as a volunteer Range Officer at the OPSO Public Rifle Range.

Sheriff Jay Russell said Lt. Nall's presence at the OPSO Public Rifle Range will be missed by the deputies of OPSO and the citizens of Ouachita Parish whom he so diligently served.

A memorial service will be held at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office Rifle Range on November 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter.
