UPDATE: Malik Johnson in serious but stable condition

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A 16-year-old Ouachita Parish High School football player is in Surgical ICU after a fatal crash Saturday.

The two-car accident happened early Saturday evening on Millhaven Road in Monroe near Louisiana Delta Community College. Howard Coleman, 63, and Dillon Neal, 17, both of Monroe, were killed in the head-on collision. Neal's passenger 16-year-old Malik Johnson was injured in the crash and transported to the hospital in serious condition.

According to hospital officials, Malik Johnson had surgery Sunday at LSU-Shreveport Medical Center, and is now in ICU in serious but stable condition.

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal accident on Millhaven Road that killed two people.

An investigation by LSP Troop F reveals that a 2004 Cadillac Escalade, driven by Howard Coleman, 63, of Monroe, was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 594 when it crossed the center line and struck a 2008 Honda Accord head on, driven by Dillon Neal, 17, of Monroe.

Coleman was not properly restrained, while Neal was properly restrained. Both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Honda was transported to St. Francis Medical Center with serious injuries. Troopers report they were unable to determine if the passenger was properly restrained.

Alcohol use is not suspected. Toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
