HOUSTON, Tx. (KNOE 8 News) - We're continuing to receive information in a case from Houston, Texas involving a reserve Franklin Parish Sheriff's Deputy.

The Harris County Texas District Attorney's office says that Chadwick Cooper was the deputy involved in the shooting incident early Tuesday morning.

Cooper shot a man in the neck during a robbery attempt.

Two women were arrested in the incident for hiding evidence.

Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb says that Cooper is a volunteer officer and is not a paid employee of the parish.

Cobb says that if needed he would use the Cooper even in the midst of the investigation which is set to go to a grand jury.

FRANKLIN PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Franklin Parish reserve deputy and his brother were involved in a Houston shooting late Tuesday night.

Houston Police say the two were waiting in a car outside of an apartment complex that is known for its criminal activity. Police say while waiting for two women, the men were approached at gunpoint by a man.

Police say the reserve deputy fired his gun hitting the suspected robber in the neck. That suspect later died.

Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb says Houston Police have charged the two women with robbery and no charges will be brought against the reserve deputy. He says the shooting is a case of self-defense. Cobb would not name the deputy.
