MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Monroe Police Department is receiving several reports of high and standing water on numerous streets within the city limits of Monroe.

Specifically, numerous sections of Jackson St., Forsythe Ave., and N.5th St. are affected. Motorists are urged to slow down while operating motor vehicles during Thursday's time of extremely inclement weather.

Motorists are also urged to slow down while moving through the standing water to avoid forcing water into homes and businesses in the area.

The Monroe Police say that motorists should avoid traveling until conditions improve.
