Ruston Spook house receives national attention

RUSTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) – For the past 20 years Greg Bennett and his wife Debbie have gone all out trying to create the best spook house. This year they received national attention and a cash prize for these photos that they sent in.

"We entered the contest in hopes of obviously winning the $5,000 first place. We took fourth place which is a $100 gift card but we've got photographs that are irreplaceable," said Greg Bennett.

Their images can't capture the full effect of a talking scare crow or the banjo playing skeletons.

There is a section for kids but it's not all singing and dancing. Blood is what the doctor ordered and there are several other organs on display. For those who don't make it out alive there is a cemetery, but burial spots are expensive.

"We've spent several thousand dollars over the years on all of our Halloween decorating collection and it continues to grow," said Greg Bennett.

The Bennett's also spent more than 30 hours decorating and they say rain or shine Halloween is taking place on Church Street.

"The weather is trying to dampen our Halloween spirit but we are not going to let that happen. Halloween is still going on," said Debbie Bennett.

The Bennett's say there is something for everyone and they hope the brave will visit their house for themselves, if they dare.

The Bennett's say they also go all out for Christmas.
