A Marine is remembered in Richwood

RICHWOOD, La (KNOE 8 News) - Sounds of praise in Richwood at a candlelight vigil in honor of Lance Corporal Christopher Grant. Grant was killed  during a ground combat operation in Afghanistan on October 20th. Grant, a native of Richwood and a 2012 graduate of Richwood high school is remembered by teachers to have always wanted to serve in the armed forces.

"From the first time I met Chris his goal was to be in the military. That's all he ever talked about I mean he lived and he breathe it, and he affected other people with his goals," says Brenda Grover.

Those that knew him says Grant had a certain approach to life understanding that things aren't as bad as they could be.

"It didn't matter what kind of day you were having or what type of mood you were in 5 seconds with Chris and everything was forgotten. Everybody is laughing everybody is just enjoying life that's who he was. he was larger than life," says Grover.

People at the vigil all agreed Grant was a happy person, who inspired others through his positive approach to life. Always making the best of every situation. The overall message of the vigil was to remember that a marine's job is never done... and that was apparent. Friends says even though grant is gone he will forever be an inspiration.
