UPDATE: Monroe Police investigating shooting

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A man shot on Thursday night has died from his injuries.

At approximately 1130 PM, Monroe Police responded to a shooting call that was reported to have occurred in the 900 block of South 6th Street in Monroe.

Upon arrival officers found a black man, later identified as Tiant McGee, lying in the front yard of a residence.

McGee had been shot numerous times. McGee was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Detectives interviewed witnesses at the scene and determined that an unknown number of subjects approached McGee from the rear of the residence and shot him.

The motive for this incident is still being determined. The investigation is ongoing. The family of the victim has been notified of this incident.

Police say they found a man with several gunshot wounds lying in the street.

The victim was taken to a local hospital.

As the investigation continues, police have reported no suspects. The victim is in critical condition.
