Update: West Monroe Athletic Director recovering from stroke

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 Sports) Update: KNOE 8 Sports talked with Don Show's wife early Friday afternoon to get an update on the former coach's condition. Dawn Shows says her husband is resting comfortably after suffering a stroke Thursday afternoon.

Dawn Shows says the coach started having issues around noon Thursday and was taken to the emergency room after being found on the floor with a gash to his head. She says they found a clot in his carotid artery. Mrs. Show's says the current athletic director is in good spirits and ready to begin physical therapy in house at St. Francis Hospital.

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) KNOE 8 Sports has learned that long-time West Monroe High School Football Coach and current Athletic Director Don Shows is back in the hospital.

Current Rebel Head Coach Jerry Arledge confirms Shows is hospitalized. His condition is not known at this time.

Shows is a Louisiana Hall of Fame member and coached the Rebels to 8 state championships during his tenure.

Shows stepped aside as head coach in the fall due to his health. Last season he suffered at least two incidents during football games, and was taken from the field by ambulance. In the last incident he was run into by a player as he stood on the sideline.
