GRAMBLING, La. (KNOE 8 News) - KNOE 8 News has learned that this weekend's Grambling State University faceoff against Jackson State has been cancelled.

GRAMBLING, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The buses scheduled to leave at 2:30p with GSU players on board for a game in Jackson, Mississippi have left the university empty. That, after no players showed up to go play the game scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

GRAMBLING, La. (KNOE 8 Sports) - Grambling Football players were told to be ready to depart for Jackson, Miss. at 2:30p. But as of 3:00p Friday, none of the players had shown up to board the bus.

GRAMBLING, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Grambling football player tells our Aaron Dietrich the players will NOT be boarding a bus Friday afternoon bound for Jackson, Mississippi.

The team is slated to leave at 2:30 in the afternoon in preparation for a Saturday game with Jackson State. A GSU player says all of the players are in agreement to not board the bus and the players are returning to their dorms or homes for the weekend. He said they are making other plans and do not intend to play the scheduled game.

During a news conference earlier Friday, GSU President Frank Pogue said the team would be on the bus as scheduled and the game would be played. We will have a KNOE Sports crew at Grambling at 2:30p to see what happens and have that information here at KNOE.COM and later on KNOE 8 News at 5p and 6p.

GRAMBLING, La. (KNOE 8 News) -Grambling University President Frank Pogue has invited the media to hear his thoughts about moving things forward with the university, athletics, football during a challenging financial time. That news conference is scheduled for 11:30a Friday morning.

In a news release, university officials say the president and athletic director will address decisions to name an interim head coach, to repair the floor of the weight room, football team transportation and other issues.

Following a two-day strike and the replacement of the interim coach, the team is schedule to leave Friday afternoon for a game with Jackson State on Saturday. As of Friday morning, that game was still scheduled to be played.
