UNION PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Sterlington man is accused of stealing a utility trailer in west Sterlington and using it to steal a 4-wheeler in Downsville.

31-year-old Bradley Eugene McPherson, of 300 Harvey Avenue, was arrested Tuesday and booked for theft of a motor vehicle, theft of more than $1,500 (trailer) and criminal trespass. His bond was set at $6,450.

Sheriff Dusty Gates says warrants were issued for McPherson after an investigation that started Monday. Sterlington Police helped Union deputies make the arrest.

Deputies learned McPherson had taken a utility trailer from a residence in west Sterlington and used it to steal the 4-wheeler that was advertised on Craig's List for sale. Gates said McPherson learned that both families involved were out of town when the thefts occurred.

The 4-wheeler was reported stolen Monday and a patrol deputy found a resident of Lonestar Road in west Sterlington riding it that afternoon. The man told the deputy that McPherson had dropped the 4-wheeler and trailer off at his residence saying he had just bought the 4-wheeler.

Gates said McPherson told investigators that he was going to sell the 4-wheeler to make some money. The sheriff said there was no damage to the 4-wheeler or trailer.
