UNION PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Deer cameras assisted in the arrest of an Arkansas man by Union Parish sheriff's deputies on burgary charges.

Ricky Darnell Wilkerson, 59, of Hot Springs, was booked Sunday into the parish's detention center on two counts each of simple burglary and criminal trespass. His bond was set at $16,600.

Sheriff Dusty Gates said the department had first received a complaint October 8th from two people at a hunting club near Spearsville who reported their camps broken into and items taken. The two told deputies they would put up some deer cameras in hopes of getting images of a suspect.

On Friday the victims called back stating that their camps had been burglarized again, but they had photographs of a suspect and his dog. One of the complainants also stated that she had been told that a white van had been seen in the vicinity of the camp on several different occasions.

At about 10:30 p.m. Saturday deputies were sent back to the hunting camp where they found the two victims keeping a white male and a dog from leaving the scene.

Wilkerson told deputies that he had ran out of gasoline and went onto the property earlier in the week looking for help. The deputies said Wilkerson admitted that the dog in some of the photos was his. However, Wilkerson said he did not know what he was carrying in his own hands.

Deputies said the victims looked inside Wilkerson's van and identified several items they said came from their camps.
