UPDATE: The Oak Grove Junior High football player who was airlifted is expected to make a full recovery.

According to Oak Grove Principal Emily Bradley eighth-grader, Cayne Bolden has suffered some minor injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.

She says Bolden has been moved out of ICU but will remain in the hospital until bruising and swelling goes down so doctors can reevaluate his injuries.

Original Story:

STERLINGTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) - An Oak Grove Junior High football player has been airlifted to a hospital following a neck injury during a game on Tuesday night.

Witnesses say the boy was blind-sided during a play.  We're told the helicopter was called in when the child complained of a loss of feeling in his hands and feet.

Coaches tell us some of the feeling was returning by the time the player was carried away.

The incident ended the game early.
