LAKE CHARLES, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - A 19-year-old Fort Polk man has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a minor.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley said Thursday that Eric Britton entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Patricia Minaldi.

Finley, in a news release, said Britton admitted to engaging in sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl on July 20, 2012, at an unoccupied house on the central Louisiana Army base.

Britton faces up to 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a lifetime of supervised release for sexual abuse of a minor. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Sentencing is set for Jan. 9.
