High school football player dies in Mississippi accident

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Hattiesburg police say a high school football player died when the pickup he was driving left Interstate 55 and when into the median below the bridge at Exit 60 near U.S. Highway 11.

17-year-old Ryan Jacob McLeod, of Purvis, died at the scene Saturday night. McLeod was the only passenger in the vehicle.

McLeod, a junior at Presbyterian Christian High School, was a starting linebacker on the football team.
