Notes on the Carroll Bulldogs

They Move the Chains: Carroll's offense returns six starters. Senior offensive guard Jamel Mattox is a three year starter and will anchor the offensive line. He is being counted on to insure everyone else is doing their jobs. Senior RB Austin Davis has the speed to turn a small gain into a big explosive play.

Blitz Patrol: Senior Strong Safety Jarvis Price is a great open field tackler who is always around the ball. Junior outside linebacker Travion Ampy is fast, aggressive, and has a nose for the ball. Senior cornerback Kevin Bullock is a three year starter who is a good cover corner on the strong side of the secondary. He is very knowledgeable and is a great tackler.

Ace Watch: Keep an eye on Michael Watson. The (6-4) senior runs routes well, has great hands, and can stretch the field to open plays up underneath for the rest of the offense.

Biggest Shoes to Fill: The Bulldogs must replace Devonta Johnson at RB. With his game-breaking potential, Austin Davis' explosive runs can help fill the void.

Must-See Matchup: Carroll vs. Richwood continues to be a rivalry and must-see matchup in every sport. Purchase your ticket early and expect to stay late for a wild finish.

Postseason Prospects: Last year the Bulldogs finished 3-7. They are looking to bounce back. To win this season, the Bulldogs must stay healthy considering they only play with 50-55 players on the team. Coach Jackie Hamilton says 1-2 injuries can ruin the Bulldogs season. They need to score more points and play better defense. Coach Hamilton wants the defense to hold opponents to under 20 points to give the team a better chance at winning every week.

Coach Talk: "To succeed we need people that are leaders on and off the field. That means getting good grades and being dependable. We need leaders that fulfill the responsibilities allocated to them." — Carroll Coach Jackie Hamilton
