I-20 Board member speaks out at city council meeting

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A member of Monroe's I-20 Economic Development Board is calling for action sooner than later. Tuesday night, the secretary and treasurer of the board, Charles Prichard, spoke directly to city council. Prichard gave city leaders an update on what was done last year. These updates about the board are supposed to happen once a year, but Prichard says they haven't been done in two years. The I-20 Board is responsible for developing properties near the mall. Prichard says all projects remain at a stand-still.

"we've got one problem and that one of the projects has a change order and we cannot meet and vote on that because we don't have enough members," Prichard said. "We have another project. We're in the process of selecting an engineer and again, we can't select an engineer to get the project started until we have enough members to have a valid meeting."

The board has three active members. Four more are needed for quorum. Still no word from council members when an appointment will be made.
