Air Evac Team honored for community service

Posted: Updated:

RAYVILLE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Air Evac Lifeteam based in Rayville has been selected as the company's 2013 Region 4 Community Service Base of the Year. Region 4 consists of Air Evac Lifeteam bases in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

The Community Service Base of the Year Award is presented to the base in the Air Evac Lifeteam system that has shown outstanding community service in its market area.

"Since its inception, the base hit the ground running," said Judy Dyke, regional director of base operations. "The employees have been involved in every community education opportunity that has come their way. This past year, the Rayville base has attended a summer camp for under-privileged children, and visited Vacation Bible schools. The crews also participated in the local Public Safety Expo, which brings 1500 people to Monroe Civic Center to raise awareness for emergency services and emergency medicine.

"In the last year, Rayville hosted 52 outreach education courses ranging from landing zone classes to CPR courses," Dyke added. "It has been quite impressive how they have been there for each one of their communities when called upon."
