6 indicted in New Orleans officer death

NEW ORLEANS (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Six people have been indicted in the death of New Orleans Police Officer Rodney Thomas, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Interstate 10 last month.

Police spokeswoman Remi Braden, in a news release, said five of the six were in custody late Thursday.

Kenneth Halley faces several charges including manslaughter and obstruction of justice. Bond was set at $1.6 million.

Justin McKey was charged with manslaughter. Bond was set at $1 million.

Facing charges of accessory after the fact to manslaughter and conspiracy to obstruction of justice are John Chambers, Nephateria Jones and Bill Cager. Bond for each was set at $800,000. Chambers remains at large.

Bond for James Ratliff was set at $400,000 on charges of obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruction of justice.
