SABINE PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Sabine Parish Sheriffs are actively searching for a man they say was kidnapped by a Natchitoches police officer.

That officer, 34-year-old Robert Barthelemy was arrested early this morning after a high speed chase and a stand off on Highway 177 in Desoto Parish.

Authorities say surveillance video at a home caught Barthelemy taking 25-year-old Tony Procell at gunpoint. Now the search is on in the Kisatchie National Forest. That's where Barthelemy told authorities he left Procell alive.

So far, an extensive search has turned up nothing, and investigators fear the worst. Meanwhile, Barthelemy has been booked into the Desoto Parish Jail and charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Meanwhile, Brad Walker released the statement below from the Natchitoches Police Department regarding officer Barthelemy:

The Natchitoches Police Department confirms that one of their officers has indeed been arrested in Desoto Parish on charges stemming from an incident that occurred in Sabine Parish on yesterdays date. Robert Barthelemy, a two year veteran of the department has been placed on administrative leave by Chief Micky Dove at this time. The Natchitoches Police Department is referring all other comments and press releases concerning the criminal aspect of this case to the Sabine Parish Sheriff's office. There will be no further comments from the Natchitoches Police Department on this matter.
