Ouachita Christian School unveils new classrooms

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Hundreds of students are starting the new school year in new classrooms. Ouachita Christian School is getting rid of the portables. 11 new classrooms are ready for students after seven months of construction. The staff officially opened the building on the school's 40th anniversary Monday. Staff and parents are were there celebrating the milestone. Headmaster Bobby Stokes says more construction may be on the way.

"We do have some plans but we're not really sure at which plan we're going to take yet," Stokes said. "We do have that five-ten year plan. We're excited about the growth that's going to happen at Ouachita Christian School in the future."

Stokes says enrollment is up this year, teachers are welcoming more than 850 students and school leaders say even more students could sign up for next year.
