LaSalle Parish rape suspect caught in Newton County, Texas

JENA, La. (KNOE 8 News) - LaSalle Parish rape suspect arrested in Newton County, Texas, on a traffic violation.

LaSalle Parish Deputies reported to the Nebo Quick Stop in Nebo Tuesday morning, where they found a woman in the restroom bleeding. Deputies discovered she was the victim of an apparent sexual assault, and transported her to LaSalle General Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the alleged attack.

An investigation revealed the suspect is Bryan Heath Chevallier, 27, of Rogers. Detectives searched Chevallier's residence, where the alleged attacked occurred. LPSO found evidence that corroborated the victims account of the assault.

According to Sheriff Scott Franklin, an arrest warrant was issued for Chevallier for aggravated rape and the search for him began. LaSalle Parish authorities, along with the U.S. Marshal's Task Force, searched LaSalle and surrounding parishes but were unsuccessful. Friday, Bryan Chevallier was stopped for a traffic violation in Newton County, Texas. He was taken into custody on the warrant issued in LaSalle Parish. He is awaiting extradition and transport back to LaSalle Parish to face these charges.

LPSO stated that further felony charges will be filed against Chevallier within the next few days.
