Tensas Parish hostages update

Posted: Updated:

ST. JOSEPH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - We spoke with family and friends of the hostages who say they are numb and shocked.

I'm here at the Tensas State Bank where yesterday there were three hostages. After a long day and a long night the situation is over. However, one man has been killed, one woman is in critical condition and another woman had been released.

This bank has become a memorial with flowers, balloons, and teddy bears. It's where 49 year old hostage Jay Warbington was killed.

"Everyone is just sort of numb. Can't believe something like this would happen. In a little town called Saint Joseph," says Nathan Roberts.

Ladean Mcdaniel was another one of the hostages and she is in critical condition and currently in this hospital in Alexandria.

"I'm heartbroken. I'm devastated. I couldn't believe it that it was happening. There are not than many people who live in Tensas and I can't believe it. It could happen in our small community where everybody knows everybody," says Arlys Milan.

All three of the hostages had been long time employees here at this bank. We spoke with family members and people here in the community and they are shocked and they are asking for your prayers.

The third hostage Patricia White was released before the gun fire. She is recuperating with family and friends. Understandably, her family tells us she is not ready to talk about what happened.
