Meetings about Madison Parish Hospital future continue

MADISON PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Auditors, the Louisiana Attorney General the parish police jury and the hospital board are in tense meetings regarding the future of the hospital.

The Madison Parish Police Jury went into executive session right after its meeting started Monday morning to discuss issues with the troubled hospital. After that meeting, KNOE 8 News learned that Dr. Wade brown, who works at the hospital resigned from the board, noting a conflict of interest.

Our Nolan Crane is following the various meetings today, including a hospital board meeting scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday. There, allegations that the hospital's chief financial officer (CFO) may not have been accurate about information regarding the hospital's financial status.

Meanwhile, legislative auditors are determining the financial status of the hospital and if the hospital needs to be taken over by the state.

We spoke with the newly reinstated Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Scott Barrilleaux who says he's grateful for the attorney general's and state auditor's assistance.

CEO Barrilleaux says the financial situation of the hospital got blurry when the CFO reported the hospital lost $400,000. just in that month. But, the board president said the financial situation was good.
