Surveillance footage and truck obtained in ATM theft

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)- The Monroe Police Department have obtained surveillance footage from the Richland State Bank ATM removal.

Police are searching for a man wearing a gray and white hoodie with blue jeans.

The West Monroe Police Department recovered the truck used during the theft at the West Monroe Cracker Barrel earlier this afternoon.


WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - West Monroe Police have confirmed that the man suspected in an ATM theft in Monroe also struck a bank in West Monroe.

Police say that the Banccorp South Bank branch on North 7th Street was a target by the suspect. 

Police are searching for a man wearing a gray and white hoodie with blue jeans.  They are unsure of his race at this time.

West Monroe Police officials also are looking for a white and beige Ford FX4 F350 pickup truck with a metal mesh tailgate.  The tailgate is typically used for hauling gooseneck trailers.

The truck involved in the crimes was stolen last night from the Quality Inn and Suites in West Monroe.

Police are still investigating the case.

Police Release:

On 07-26-13 at approximately 2:00 am, unknown persons damaged the ATM at the Richland State Bank located on Forsythe Ave in an attempt to gain entry into the machine.  The Suspect utilized a chain and a stolen F350 pickup in an attempt to pull the ATM doors open.  The ATM was completely ripped from its foundation and landed on the ground.  The suspect was unsuccessful in gaining access to the machine and fled the scene.

                A short time later, the same suspect and truck used the same tactic at Bancorp South in West Monroe.  The suspect was successful during this attempt and was able to gain access to the ATM cash drawers and fled with an as yet determined amount of cash.  It was later determined that the suspect vehicle had been stolen from a hotel parking lot in West Monroe and was later found abandoned at a restaurant parking lot near the same hotel.  A review of video surveillance footage of all locations is being conducted at this time.

                There is no suspect description available at this time.  The investigation is continuing.


MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Police are looking for the suspects involved in theft at two local bank branches.

At about 2:20 Friday morning Monroe Police were dispatched to the Richland State Bank branch on Forsythe Street in Monroe.

The ATM machine had been dragged from its platform.

In West Monroe, Ouachita Parish Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to another bank for a similar incident.

Police are still investigating and we'll have more information as it develops.
