FRANKLIN, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - St. Mary Parish authorities have arrested a 41-year-old Franklin man who is accused of smuggling marijuana to an inmate by dropping the weed off in a parish courtroom so the inmate could pocket it later.

Dennis Delasbour was arrested on Monday after a weekslong investigation and booked on counts of distributing marijuana and other contraband into a penal institution.

Traci Landry, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, says detectives arrested Delasbour after the July 3 discovery of marijuana in the possession of inmate Ivory Fine, who was arrested while in jail.

Landry says an investigation continues.
