UNION PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Mayor of Downsville reportedly came home to an uninvited guest sitting in his chair and eating his food.

The Union Parish Sheriff reports that Downsville Mayor Reggie Skains came home Monday night to find a car parked in his garage. When he walked in the house, he found a woman sitting in his chair, eating his cookies and drinking his root beer.

Skains has been mayor for 27-years and says this is the strangest encounter he has ever experienced.

After the intruder was reported to the sheriff's department, deputies arrested and booked Pepper Dugas, 36, into the Union Parish Detention Center for unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling.

Dugas is listed as a fugitive from justice in Jackson Parish. Bond on the unauthorized entry charge was set at $4,500.

The mayor says he really should have called police before going into his house. He says he has a security system, but did not turn it on before leaving the house Monday. The mayor says Dugas did not express any regrets for what she had done.
