MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Ex-firefighter arrested for drag racing in Monroe Saturday night.

In the overnight hours of July 20, 2013, Monroe Police observed two vehicles headed south on Highway 165 near I-20. Police say the vehicles were drag racing, and estimated to be driving at 94 mph in a 50 mph zone.

Officers stopped one of the vehicles, the other was unable to be located. The driver, Yashavion Stringfellow, denied drag racing and told police he was a Monroe Firefighter. Police contacted MFD supervisors who stated that Stringfellow no longer worked for the department.  Stringfellow was arrested for traffic charges and booked at RCC.
