JACKSON, Miss. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - A federal judge has scheduled an Aug. 5 sentencing date for a man who pleaded guilty to food stamp fraud.

Stanley Jones was charged with lying on food stamp applications in 2008 by representing that nobody in his household had been convicted of a drug-related felony since 1996.

He pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Jackson in April.

Court records say the case originated in Jackson.

Anyone convicted of a drug related felony after August 22, 1996, is prohibited from receiving benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps.
