MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Ouachita Parish Sheriff Deputies arrested a man after they found five pounds of marijuana, over $1300 in cash, and .22 caliber pistol on Saturday.

Kedrick Carter, from Vicksburg, Mississippi, was arrested on drug charges after the Special Crimes Apprehension Team conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 20.  Through an investigation, deputies found the drugs, gun, and cash, but also discovered that the Lexus SUV that Carter was driving was a stolen vehicle.

Jackson, Mississippi Police say that the car was stolen in an armed carjacking.  Police officials in Jackson also believe the gun discovered by the sheriff's office could have been used in the carjacking.

Carter was transported to the Ouachita Correctional Center and is facing drug, weapons, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle with bond totaling $47,500.
