A closer look at safety measures

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Local law enforcement agencies are showing off their equipment, paid for by your hard earned dollars. It all happened at the Monroe Civic Center Saturday.

The arena and front lawns were filled with police and deputy vehicles, along with fire trucks, police helicopters and boats. People got the chance to try on some of the uniforms of our everyday heroes and climb into the drivers seat for a tour.

For some, it was a way to learn safety tips, but for others, it was just a fun day for the whole family.

"We thought we'd come up here and bring them and let them check out the tow trucks conventions, and helicopters, and you know, driving safety, boating safety. We thought we'd take them and let them explore," Troy Welsch said.

For moms and dads with little ones, Louisiana State Police also had a free child seat safety check. It was set up outside the building.
