FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - A self-help author who led a deadly Arizona sweat lodge ceremony is scheduled to be released from prison today.

James Arthur Ray has served 85 percent of his 2-year sentence for convictions on negligent homicide, which are under appeal.

When he's freed from the state prison in Buckeye, near Phoenix, he will have to stay in Arizona for a few months to complete community supervision.

Ray has acknowledged that he was responsible for the deaths of three people who took part in the 2009 ceremony near Sedona.

The victims' families say they'd rather him not get back into the self-help industry.

Ray's brother, Jon, says Ray will take time to acclimate to life outside prison.
