UPDATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Sharon Davis is the mother of 30-year-old Lisso Jones, III.

"It hurts, because they have falsely accused him of something he would never do," Davis said.

Jones is waiting extradition back to Marshall, Texas on a capital murder charge. Law enforcement said Jones beat and left his child for dead last year and most likely sought refuge in West Monroe. The suspect's mother says that's not true.

"Acid reflux is what the baby died from, it's what the baby had," Davis said.

Jones' oldest sister, Tomorra Jackson, is even coming to her brother's defense after the Tuesday morning arrest. That's when several patrol units served as a wake-up call to relatives inside this home. U.S. Marshal's said they were knocking on windows and doors while looking for Jones.

"The way they just bum rushed in the house as if he was a violent person, none of us are violent people," Tomorra Jackson said.

Relatives say Jones has three daughters over in Texas a 10, 7, and a 4-year-old, who are looking for their dad.

"They are constantly calling me, asking me 'granny, where is daddy?' and it's a shame a granny has to say 'baby, I don't know," Davis said.

Law enforcement believe the beating death is of a 3-year-old. That age left relatives with questions. Family members said the child who died from acid reflux disease was much younger.

"The baby wasn't but seven months old," Davis said.

The suspect's mother said she also was arrested, but she was taken into custody at a hospital where she works. She was accused of helping her son hide.

U.S. Marshal's said no charges have been filed against relatives.

We reached out to Marshall, Texas P. D. but they have not returned our phone calls.
