Round 2 of construction begins on Lea Joyner

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Lea Joyner Bridge has entered its second phase of construction.

The bridge which serves as thoroughfare for 40,000 cars daily has been closed and will remain closed for 4 weeks.  

Department of Transportation and Development officials are working to replace the original bearings from the bridge.  

State Police are urging motorists to use Interstate 20 or the Endom Bridge as alternate routes.
