JONESBORO, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Local up and coming rapper Lil Snupe was laid to rest in his hometown of Jonesboro.

Family and friends are still mourning the loss of 18-year-old Addarren Ross and many gathered for a funeral at Jonesboro-Hodge High School. Several people tell KNOE 8 News that they are remembering the young artist as more than just a rapper.

"He was just a kid with a dream," says Doniquia Smith, "and he just wanted to get out of here. That's all there is to it."

Friends of Ross say he was a small town kid with big time dreams. He signed to Meek Mill's Dreamchaser label earlier this year, and fellow rappers say Ross, known as Lil Snupe, was on his way to stardom.

"We just come to show support and love," says rapper New City, "Lil was a fool, he did his thing!"

So many at the funeral, knew Ross before the fame, like friend Caitlyn Anderson.

"He was a real laid back person to be around," says Anderson, "he always liked to crack jokes, just mess with type of stuff, like pull pranks on you, his whole life."

It was an emotional day for people as they said goodbye to the young artist.

"I feel like you take a child's life...it was precious and it hurts that we have to bury him today," says Smith, "You took away a friend, a son, and an icon to a lot of people."

Whether they called him Lil Snupe, or just Addarren, many say he was a rising star they'll not soon forget.
