MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Just four weeks ago Car Town manger Trey Phillips was preparing for a plummet in business due to the closing of the Lea Joyner bridge. Now Phillips is preparing for a profit.

"We are very excited for the bridge to be re opening here at car town get some people by for our big sale" says Phillips.

The Lea Joyner bridge opened Friday a little after Noon. Cars flooded the bridge just shortly after opening. The 40,000 drivers said to go over the Lea Joyner bridge were forced to use alternate routes during the closing causing a lot of headache for twins cities drivers went smoother than expected according to Louisiana State Trooper Albert Paxton.

"From our side the first phase went great there was a few times traffic got delayed a little bit it pretty much stayed flowing the whole time it just slowed down we did not have an major crashes" says Paxton.

Although traffic ran smoothly on I-20 and the Endome bridge, Phillips is glad the traffic is already flowing on Louisville. Even if it is only for 12 days.

The reopening is big enough, that Cartown is having a sale to celebrate the re-opening. They hope the drivers here on Louisville will take notice.

"With the bridge open we are going to have a lot more people by it is going to be back to business on Louisville ave" says Phillips.

The bridge will be open for the next 12 days and will close for the second phase of repairs on July 10th at midnight.

Here's the bad news though, drivers you can not get too comfortable because the next closure will last for another month.
