Lea Joyner Bridge to open at noon

Monroe, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Lea Joyner Bridge is set to open Friday at noon.

Construction crews have completed the first phase of construction on the bridge.  Initial reports for the opening of the bridge was scheduled for 8 PM on Friday.

This is just a temporary opening.  The bridge will close again on July 10 for another four weeks.

DOTD officials say that that the exit ramps and onramps in Monroe will remained closed through the entire construction process.  They also say that the 5th street ramps in West Monroe will be opened later Friday afternoon.

Officials say that city leaders have yet to determine if they will open up streets that have been closed during the first phase of construction.
