Ferry service to continue

Posted: Updated:

BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Just two days before the Reserve-Edgard ferry on the Mississippi River was scheduled to halt service indefinitely, state and St. John the Baptist Parish officials reached an agreement to extend the service.

Parish President Natalie Robottom and Sherri LeBas, secretary for the Department of Transportation and Development, reached an agreement late Wednesday that will extend Reserve-Edgard ferry services for at least two weeks.

The Times-Picayune reports the Office of Community Development has agreed to provide funding for ferry operations on a short-term basis.
