NEW ORLEANS (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Police have arrested a suspect in the murder of 18-year-old Joseph Massenburg, an Americorps worker gunned down on April 1 in New Orleans.

Massenburg, of Illinois, was shot as he was talking on his cellular phone outside his residence.

Members of the police department's Homicide Division and Gang Unit arrested 18-year-old Glen Emerson in an apartment complex in eastern New Orleans. He allegedly was the driver of a white Lexus SUV from which a gunman shot Massenburg several times.

Emerson was booked with one count of second-degree murder. Officer Frank Robertson, a police spokesman, says Emerson's previous arrest record includes charges of battery, criminal trespass and reckless operation of a vehicle.
