MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Monroe man has been arrested for kidnapping after taking his girlfriend and their daughter away from their home at gunpoint.

On Monday evening, the Ouachita Parish Sheriffs Office got a tip that Dontrell Thomas kidnapped his girlfriend and daughter from an apartment in the 3900 block of Old Sterlington Road.

A deputy spotted him and a chase ensued. Thomas was apprehended near Lamy Lane. The 29- year-old was booked on five charges including second degree kidnapping and battery.

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Local law enforcement is looking into reports of a kidnapping.

Monroe officers are confirming a police chase ended near the intersection of LaSalle St. and Lamy Lane in Monroe.

It all happened Monday evening. Police say it started outside the city limits at Van Mark Apartments on Old Sterlington Road.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation. It is not yet known whether an arrest was made, nor are there details of any injuries.
