UPDATE: Friday shooting injures 18-year-old

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News / MPD) - Monroe Detectives have spoken to the 18-year-old victim who stated he was in the area to watch two groups fight. Police sat the victim was a bystander and had no idea who the participants of the groups were Friday night. That victim further stated he heard gun shots fired and ran away when he was hit in the lower legs. According to police, the victim had no idea who fired the shots. Detectives received several conflicting statements at the scene. The victim has been transported to Shreveport for treatment. Investigation continues.

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8) - At approximately 730 PM, Friday, Monroe Police responded to a reported shooting that is alleged to have occurred in the 300 block of Lidell St.

Initial reports indicate a male was struck by gunfire in both ankles and was driven to a local hospital where he is being treated for moderate injuries.

There is no suspect information at this time. Investigation is ongoing.
