Monroe superintendent says too much spent at central office

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Monroe City School System spends nearly two times what the closest comparable school district does on central office expenses. That's something new superintendent Brent Vidrine wants to change.

Recent data shows the school district spends more than $2,300. per student on central office and district support. The St. Martin Parish School District, which is comparable to Monroe in size, spends about $1,200. per student.

The average cost for those expenditures across the state is $1,500. per student.
